Google Cloud provided a memorable introduction to their new era at the Google Cloud Next 2026 event in Las Vegas. From the 22nd to the 24th of April, Google Cloud Next 2026 hosted inspiring tech leaders from across the globe to deliver a series of talks, conferences, and demonstrations that explored emerging artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies.

Key reveals

It’s no surprise that Google took centre stage at their own conference—but this was justified. The tech giants revealed a range of innovative advancements across their entire ecosystem, from improved software to brand-new hardware.

Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform

Google unveiled the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, an end-to-end system that makes it easier than ever for organisations and individuals to harness AI. Google coined this advancement the “Agentic Gemini era”, reflecting the shift in conversations from “Can we build an agent?” to “How can we manage thousands of them?” With this new platform, Google aims to enable “every employee in every organisation [to] become an [AI agent] builder.”

Eighth-generation TPUs

With the rapidly improving capabilities of AI, it’s crucial for hardware to efficiently support AI tools to reach their full potential. That’s why Google revealed its eight-generation TPUs (Tensor Processing Units), specifically tailored to power demanding AI workloads.

The TPU 8t is specially tailored for AI training, with an impressive 2 petabytes of high-bandwidth, shared memory in a single superpod.

Alternatively, the TPU 8i is specially tailored for AI inference. It offers drastically reduced latency and the ability to effortlessly and cost-effectively run millions of AI agents simultaneously with high throughput.

Google and Apple

Google also announced a future collaboration with Apple.

“We’re collaborating with Apple as their preferred cloud provider to develop the next generation of Apple Foundation Models based on Gemini technology. These models will help power future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalised Siri coming later this year.”

Although the details are vague, it’s safe to expect that iOS 27 will debut Gemini integrated into Apple Intelligence and Siri. This exciting collaboration between such acclaimed tech giants is sure to spark high expectations.

Security

Google Cloud Next 2026 saw a genuine prioritisation of security. Google unveiled a series of security enhancements focused on defending an increasingly agentic, AI-driven landscape. Central to this was agentic defence, with three new agents in Google Security Operations designed to automatically hunt for threats, engineer detections at scale, and enrich investigations with deeper third‑party risk context.

Google also expanded its partnership with Wiz to strengthen protection for AI and cloud applications across any infrastructure, introducing broader AI coverage to help teams securely build and deploy agents across multiple clouds and AI studios.

Healthcare

Another key theme that shone throughout Google Cloud Next 2026 was how AI can support healthcare. Healthcare leaders highlighted a new era of innovation, one where years of developing health technology have finally come into fruition, ready to enact real-world change. For example, the Cancer AI Alliance demonstrated how its AI-powered platform directly accelerates cancer research, emphasising the importance of cultivating resilient data foundations and operationalising responsible AI.

The conference also revealed the collaboration between Google and pharmaceutical giant Merck. This pairing will implement advanced AI tools, such as Google Gemini Enterprise, to support Merck’s operations from drug discovery to manufacturing.

Final thoughts

Google raised the bar yet again with Google Cloud Next 2026. This year’s conference highlighted the powerful intersection between AI and cloud technology. Looking forward, the impact of these innovations will extend far beyond the tech sector. If Google Cloud Next 2026 is any indication, we’re on the cusp of a shift in which AI actively pioneers research to improve the world.
