Can you turn off the Dynamic Island?

The Dynamic Island cannot be turned off or permanently disabled. During a Live Activity session, should you wish not to see the Dynamic Island, swipe on it horizontally to hide it for the duration of the Live Activity. No information will be displayed after hiding the Dynamic Island; instead, a generic, pill-shaped zone will show.

What is the Dynamic Island used for?

The Dynamic Island is the go-to zone for checking alerts and the current activity in progress. The Dynamic Island will show at the top of the Home Screen or at the top of the active app. See your current recording session in Voice Memo, check an AirDrop connection, and receive directions from Maps.<br></br>

See the alert or activity in more detail by pressing and holding the Dynamic Island and swiping from the centre to the left or right. Swipe from the left or right towards the centre to collapse the view for a smaller and more concise viewing experience. If you are running two different activities, switch between them with ease by swiping from one side or the other.
