Samsung have launched a range of products in their July 2024 Galaxy Unpacked, including the Buds3 and Buds3 Pro. Below we detail some of the major updates, changes, and returning features.

The Buds3 Pro

The Buds3 Pro introduce dual amp speakers, marking the first time Galaxy buds have incorporated this hardware. The addition of a second amplifier results in clearer audio, better channel separation, more customization options, and improved external audio filtering. They also feature 2-way speakers and planar tweeters, which enhance audio detail by covering a broader range of high and low frequencies.

The Adaptive Noise Control feature recognizes unwanted sounds, such as traffic, and balances the audio to minimize these disturbances. This technology is more advanced than traditional Active Noise Cancelling, as it can accurately identify the type of noise and respond specifically. Working in tandem with Adaptive Noise Control, Voice Detect identifies conversations, adjusting ambient sound and noise control to ensure users can hear people speaking around them. Siren Detect, another complementary feature, recognizes emergency sirens, ensuring sound levels are adjusted so users do not miss important audio alerts. The Buds3 Pro also feature a canal-type design, ensuring a snug fit in the ear.

The Buds3

The Buds3 feature an open design, which rests comfortably in the ear rather than fitting snugly into the ear canal. This design allows for a more natural and airy sound experience, providing users with a comfortable and lightweight fit ideal for extended wear. The open design also lets in more ambient sound, making it safer for outdoor activities like jogging or commuting, as users can remain aware of their surroundings. Additionally, the Buds3's ergonomic shape ensures they sit securely in the ear, offering a balance of comfort and stability without causing ear fatigue.

Features shared by both headphones

The Buds3 Pro feature Blade lights along the sides that indicate information such as Bluetooth pairing status. A key element of the Galaxy AI suite is the Interpreter feature, which translates spoken language live. When paired with a suitable Samsung device, the Buds3 can translate foreign languages spoken in your environment and immediately play them back in your chosen language. Pinch Control is another new feature for the Buds3 Pro, allowing users to adjust audio volume by swiping on the blade and play or pause audio by gently pinching the blades.

Both the Buds3 and Buds3 Pro have an IP57 resistance rating, protecting against dust particles and immersion in water up to 1 meter deep. Both models also offer Active Noise Cancelling, which blocks out unwanted noise like traffic by using sound waves that cancel incoming sound waves. The Buds3 Pro further enhances this with Adaptive Noise Control, a more advanced version of the technology.
